Inside an Insane Mind

The story is everywhere a student named Jeff Weise walked into the Red Lake high school and opened fire right after he killed his grandfather and his grandfathers girl friend taking the lives of 6 students a teacher and a security guard. This is one of the saddest things to happen in northern Minnesota in a long time. How do I know you ask well I live in Bemidji MN about 20miles from Red Lake. The worst part of all of this is the fact that this could have been stopped long before it happened. The signs were every ware now I'm not one for stereotyping and am not saying that the fact he wore all black and always had a trench coat on was any kind of a warning sign. I don't need to there were so many others.

As the news reports have told you Red Lake has one of the most secure schools in the state. It has medal detekors. It has security guards. It even has BARBED WIRE FENCES! Yet some how this happened. MN governor Tim Pawlenty said in a news conference "What we say at the end of the day is that if you have a very disturbed individual and he's determined to do some damage, then he's probably going to succeed." Oh come on you mean to tell me if a kid tells people that he's going to shoot up the school and is even questioned about it by the FBI a year before he dose it that nothing could be done about it. Is that what your saying?

What you wont hear on Fox News or CNN or any other news source is this Red lake is a scary place. To Better understand the Shooting you first should under stand Red Lake Drugs. Gangs, Poverty, Unemployment, Unrest, Murder, it all is here According to U.S. government figures, poverty levels on the reservation are at about 40 per cent, unemployment sits at about 50 per cent and the high-school graduation rate is closing in on 60 per cent. All far from any national average.

The Red Lake Band operates a "closed" reservation with a tribal government and its own legal system, except where federal legislation takes precedence, as in the case of Monday's shooting, carried out by teenager Jeff Weise at Red Lake High School.

Under the system, tribal-council members appoint people to important jobs and fire those they don't like. A U.S. Civil Rights Commission once called this system a leading cause of inequality on the reserve. Gangs, with names such as the Native Mob and Back of Town Mob, plague the area. An estimated 300 members lure youngsters, some as young as 8, into the fold with talk of "warrior" and true Indian status. There are only 5000 people on the reservation so 300 gang members gives you 6% of the total population is known to be in a gang that's a lot I don't think even L.A. has that kind of a percentage

When five gang- and drug-related killings occurred on the reservation over the course of a few months in 2001-2002, the U.S. Department of Justice pledged a crackdown and Washington funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars in anti-gun and anti-gang projects to Red Lake.

This included a blitz on the illegal drug trade that largely focused on crystal methamphetamine. The crackdown is thought to have provoked a hail of gunfire aimed at the police headquarters, the reservation's detention centre and homes of tribal police officers in January. A man and a boy were arrested in connection with the attack.

The pivotal moment in the reservation's tumultuous history came in 1979, in a bloody uprising over a contentious tribal-council vote. It resulted in riots, fires and looting, millions of dollars in damages and the shooting deaths of two teens. The tribe sued the federal government over the FBI's involvement, alleging it had improperly withdrawn officers during the siege. The FBI said its officers were targets of shootings.
Lets look at the facts that we know so far. (links for all of this will be provied at the end of post)

By the way, I'm being blamed for a threat on the school I attend because someone said they were going to shoot up the school on 4/20, Hitlers birthday, and just because I claim being a National Socialist, guess whom they've pinned?

He then goes on to post
You encounter a lot of hostility when you claim to be a National Socialist, but because of my size and appearance people don’t give me as much trouble as they would if I looked weak. I already had a fist fight with a communist not to long ago over me being what I am (I also won), but it was worth it. I don’t try to hide what I am from anyone, if they’re going to start something over it then fine, I’m not backing down; Nor am I hiding. I try not to be aggressive in most situations, I’ll use force if I have to, but I’m not about to go out and pick a fight. I’m mostly defensive, I’ll defend myself if someone tries something but other than that I’m a peaceful person.

But the school threat passed and I was cleared as a suspect, I’m glad for that. I don’t much care for jail, I’ve never been there and I don’t plan on it.

Either way, I was wondering if there was a way to become a more active member, besides posting on this board I can’t really think of anything else to do. I could do some recruiting, but a lot of the people I socialize with are against Nazism whole-heartedly, I managed to sway a few opinions in the favor of the movement none the less, and there is also a few of my “friends” who only like Hitler because they think Nazi’s are “cool.” Which I agree with, don’t get me wrong, but they aren’t as serious about it as I am.

Any ideas?

I may young, but I’m willing to help.

Ok he got into a fight with a communist ....not a sign no sounds like something you would see on WWE just what is going on in Red Lake anyways. Now what I find interesting is that here is a kid that is by all descriptions is an "outsider" or "a loner" and not really like by the other kids yet the Nazi's for crying out loud the fucking Nazi's welcome him with open arms just read the responses to his asking to join the group

There is a place for you, I hope you stick with us.

We welcome you, brother. It will take many combined minds for us to unite, and forge something out of nothing!

That is just messed... My dad committed suicide, recently, a girl everyone knew at our school committed suicide.

Why do I care?

I believe in no religion, flame me, call me whatever you want as you won't/can't convert me and won't change me in anyway.

I think it takes a lot of courage to accept death, if you think that you go to Hell or whatever God-forsaken pit after this life for ending your own personal suffering then you're just... Nevermind.

I think most people who say this type of thing have never dealt with people who HAVE faced the kind of pain that makes you physically sick at times, makes you so depressed you can't function, makes you so sad and overwhelmed with grief that eating a bullet or sticking your head in a noose seems welcoming.

If you think you're better than those who take their own lives; you're not. If you think you're stronger than those who have taken their own lives; your not.

It takes courage to turn the gun on your ownself, takes courage to face death. Knowing you're going to die and actually following through takes heart, I don't care who you are.

This is my opinion, I do not claim to know all the answers or claim to be better than anyone. I just know my own opinion... Flame me all you want, if it makes you feel better to belittle someone you've never met than by all means go ahead. I don't get pissed over text.:P

Here is a kid more or less crying out for help and im pretty sure he didn't just cry on the internet I'm sure as time goes on I'm sure more of these statements will come out and a lot of them will have been said out load.

Sign Two: The shooter made a flash cartoon a ..... Very disturbed flash cartoon
Trust me you need to see it for your self....Ill let you make your own minds up
this cartoon as well as another were posted on newgrounds one reveiew said this "Umm... ok. Was that like a warning message? Hmm dude you need help badly." to witch Weise resopnded "Lol, you obviously can't tell the difference between Fantasy and reality. This cartoon was made for nothing more than Random violence, and believe it or not theres an audience out there that this appeals to. So don't try judging my Mental health based upon a simple animation, capisce?" well at least some one caught on to bad the people who saw him in real life didnt

I could go on and on about all the warning signs but I'm sure the media let you know all of them but when its all over and done with when the reporters check out of the local Hamton and stop camping out in front of the hospital and the world forgets about quiet northern Minnesota ill remember the words of our governor "What we say at the end of the day is that if you have a very disturbed individual and he's determined to do some damage, then he's probably going to succeed." The way I see it that will always be the case unless a new security measure is put in place what could have prevented this you ask? A BRAIN just a little thought by those in charge and those who heard him threaten to do just what he did. That's the common thread in all of these shootings no one thinks its really going to happen at there school even when some one says that it will happen cause they're going to be the one to do it. Its just not believed

On a side note the ABC station in MLPS decided to send there sports reporter to cover the tradgity I'm just glad he didn't give the score of the killings

here are all the links to the shooters posting that I know off if you know of any more please let me know in the comments section

I like your take on this sad scene. Because you live practically right next to Red Lake, you wrote very well about the underlying reasons why Weise went on a shooting rampage. This was not just "another school shooting", or why "there are too many guns in this country".

This high school, this reservation, with the crime, drugs, unemployment, gangs, etc. reminds me of a truck stop rest room. They both need cleaning up now.
